Digital Book Nook Magazine recently had the pleasure of chatting with with Cindy M. Young, Author of “Over the Bridge There is Love: A Book About Grief.” In this exclusive Q&A, Cindy shares the inspiration behind her story, her writing journey, and what readers can expect next. We are excited to share this insightful interview with our readers today.

When did you first discover that you enjoy writing and wanted to become a published author?

I discovered that enjoyed writing when my son was born, I began writing poetry. It wasn’t until the pandemic is when I started writing children’s books. I am a school mental health counselor and schools had to shut down because of the pandemic so I started writing as a coping skill for myself. The stories began to come and it was then I published my first book.

What is your favorite and the most challenging aspect of writing?

My favorite aspect of writing is that it is therapeutic, I encourage kids that I work with to journal or write their own story.

Tell us about your latest release.

My latest release is ” Over the bridge, there is love.” I wrote this book to help children process grief in a healthy way. It features the stages of grief in a storyline that helps children to move through the steps and help promote healing.

How did you come up with the title of your book?

The title just came to me one day, I was thinking about people who lose loved one and when they cross to the other side, the love still remains.

What do you hope readers are able to get from reading your story?

I hope that young readers learn how to grieve in a healthy way and understand the importance of moving through the stages of grief.

Who are some of your favorite authors?

As a kid, I loved Judy Blume and loved reading. I still love reading mostly self help books and biographies.

Do you have any advice for writers looking to get published?

My advice would be to publish your story, someone needs to hear it!
