⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐(5 Stars)From the first chapter, Brendon James pulls readers into a world filled with magic, danger, and deep personal struggle. Foes of Hope, the opening novel in the Adamas Chronicles, wastes no time setting emotional stakes that hit hard. The story begins with Pistis Arete wrestling with the pain of killing her closest friend, a…

Digital Book Nook recently caught up with Justin Cook, Author of “Abyss of Tyranny.” We are excited to share this insightful interview with our readers today.

When did you first discover that you enjoy writing and wanted to become a published author?

This is my second book, which was spawned during the harsh treatment from probation and the state of Arizona. Abyss of Tyranny is Part Two in the series, the first being Infectious Injustice, where I experienced a lockdown during COVID-19, in San Quentin State Prison. In that hell is where I first discovered I could write well.

What is your favorite and the most challenging aspect of writing?

The most challenging aspect of writing is ironing out all your thoughts. Making sure they don’t wrinkle or stretch too far, then snap. You want them to flow but not so much that the reader falls asleep. My favorite part is when words come together and source power, then ironically stop the reader from reading.

Tell us about your latest release.

Abyss of Tyranny is already a #1 Amazon Best-Selling Novel. In fact, this is my SECOND #1 Amazon Best-Selling Novel. The book is full of officials wielding their power to crush individual freedoms and minds with malicious intent amidst the desolation and adversity but in the end, a glimmer of hope emerges.

How did you come up with the title of your book?

The desert tends to be an abyss at times, but in Arizona and the justice system currently in America, Tyranny, also, has taken over. That is the source of the title.

What do you hope readers are able to get from reading your story?

The book is about finding hope when all hope is lost. It shows the struggle that the justice system bestows on individuals who it doesn’t like, and in the end, it shows that peace can really be found by looking inward. In the end, you will find peace during chaos, if you choose to.

Who are some of your favorite authors?

I am a huge Hemingway and Fitzgerald, but I also love Green and King. I just love reading.

Do you have any advice for writers looking to get published?

My advice is to dig into the depths of your soul and not worry about what anybody else thinks or will think. Write for yourself or you won’t end up writing anything of value.

Justin Cook was born in Nevada. He’s a technical architect who has worked at the most prestigious companies and holds over fifty technical certifications, including top-tier status among the technical community worldwide. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Spanish literature, a master’s in information systems, and is pursuing a PhD in information systems. He also taught at a college in Nevada and was a faculty member in the information technology department. He is a marathon runner who has also stupidly run with the bulls in Pamplona, twice. He speaks four languages, which he developed while living abroad in Spain, France, and Germany. He has traveled to over thirty countries, which translates to he doesn’t know how to save money. He enjoys teaching Kenpo, where he holds a black belt, playing piano, snowboarding, and hiking. He is much better at being divorced than he was at being married. He is a father of rambunctious kids who enjoy reminding him that he is no longer cool and is gaining weight. He now lives in a house free of bars that is made for naps, reading books, and drinking too much coffee. Most days, you will find him lounging in his Kirkland sweats from Costco, writing, where he transports readers to a place where bold heroes have endearing flaws, as he broadly addresses the human experience.
