Digital Book Nook recently caught up with Olivia Von Holt, author of “The Reward of Risk: Embracing Confidence in Your Career.” We are excited to share this insightful interview with our readers today.

When did you first discover that you enjoy writing and wanted to become a published author?

My passion for writing emerged gradually over my career. Initially, it was all about jotting down ideas and insights on sticky notes and sharing them with my team. The real turning point came when a mentee suggested I compile these into a book. That idea sparked a new ambition in me to become a published author. It was a way to reach a wider audience and share the knowledge I’d accumulated in a more structured and impactful way.

What is your favorite and the most challenging aspect of writing?

My favorite aspect of writing is the creative process of organizing and expressing my thoughts in a way that can inspire and educate others. The most challenging part, however, is maintaining the discipline to write regularly and effectively. Balancing the creative flow with the practical aspects of meeting deadlines and ensuring the content is engaging and valuable to the reader can be quite demanding.

Tell us about your latest release.

My latest book ‘The Reward of Risk’ is a culmination of my experiences in the corporate world and as an entrepreneur. It’s designed to guide young professionals in their careers, offering practical advice and insights I’ve gathered over the years. The book is a blend of personal anecdotes, professional strategies, and motivational guidance to help readers confidently navigate their professional journeys.

How did you come up with the title of your book?

The title of my book was inspired by a key theme that runs through its pages: the importance of embracing challenges and growth in one’s career. It reflects the book’s essence – a guide to professional development and personal growth to empower young professionals to achieve their career goals.

What do you hope readers are able to get from reading your story?

I hope my readers find both inspiration and practical advice in my book. My goal is for them to feel empowered to confidently take on their professional challenges, equipped with the strategies and insights I’ve shared. I want them to understand that growth often comes from stepping out of their comfort zones and that they can achieve great things in their careers.

Who are some of your favorite authors?

Tim Ferriss, David Allen, Chris Guillebeau, Joshua Foer, and Simon Sinek are among my favorite authors. Their work in business, productivity, and personal development have profoundly influenced my thinking and approach to my professional and personal life.

Do you have any advice for writers looking to get published?

For aspiring writers, my advice is to stay true to your voice and message. The journey to publication is often challenging, so resilience is key. Also, don’t underestimate the power of a good support system – whether it’s friends, family, or a writing group. And finally, embrace the learning curve; every step in the process, from writing to publishing, is an opportunity to grow and improve.
