Book Review: Carrying Water and Carrying Loss: Tony Stevens’ The Water Girls

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐(5 Stars)Venice has been written about endlessly, but The Water Girls finds something rare in its canals. Instead of gondoliers and nobles, Tony Stevens turns his attention to the women who carried the city’s water, and in doing so, he gives voice to a world on the edge of disappearance. The story follows Lina, a…

Book Review: Brendon James Delivers Heart, Conflict, and High Stakes in Foes of Hope

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐(5 Stars)From the first chapter, Brendon James pulls readers into a world filled with magic, danger, and deep personal struggle. Foes of Hope, the opening novel in the Adamas Chronicles, wastes no time setting emotional stakes that hit hard. Digital Book Nook recently caught up with Tony Green, author of “Pick up Your Own Damn Crutch!” We are excited to share this insightful interview with our readers today.

When did you first discover that you enjoy writing and wanted to become a published author
I first discovered that I enjoyed writing and wanted to become a published author in 2022.

What is your favorite and the most challenging aspect of writing?
My favorite was when I wrote a book about myself along with my family and friends. My ghostwriter assisted with the book and helped me get it published on Amazon, July 4, 2023.

Tell us about your latest release.

“Pick up Your Own Damn Crutch!” is a memoir. There is no such thing as a perfect life. We all face moments when we feel like giving up, especially in today’s demanding world. But amidst the difficulties, there is a profound truth: you hold the key to your own happiness. This book serves as a gentle reminder that even when life presents its challenges, you have the power to thrive and appreciate each day that comes your way.

How did you come up with the title of your book?
The title came from my mom when I was 7 years old. Mom and Papa were always telling me to be careful and take care of my things. They would say don’t depend on someone to help you!

What do you hope readers are able to get from reading your story?
I hope my story will help others deal with their life trials, whether it is surgery/pain, mental illness/depression, or relationship/loneliness. I have always said, “Everyone is different, but we all have our strengths”.  Respecting yourself is very important. Life can be more joyous if you respect others for who they are and care for their needs. This will always make you feel better about yourself.  I’m also hoping that all readers will buy the book from Amazon.

Who are some of your favorite authors?
My favorite author is Christy Brown.

Do you have any advice for writers looking to get published?
With your heart and soul in your mind, you can always write a book.

“Pick up Your Own Damn Crutch!” by Tony Green is available at Amazon.

About the Author

Born with CP, a disorder that affects a person’s ability to move and maintain balance and posture, Tony Green wants you to know that you are unstoppable. For 34 years, he has been living with the disorder. CP presented countless hurdles throughout Tony’s life. It’s been one surgery after another, one therapy session after another; depression came attacking from every corner, but he held on. Unable to walk independently and burdened with a hearing disability, it was all a handful, and he confronted those difficulties. “Tony the Tiger” continues to pursue his passion and finds comfort in doing the things he loves and being around the people he cherishes.
