Author Interview: Dawn Airhart Witte author of “The Little Book of Believe”

Digital Book Nook recently caught up with Dawn Airhart Witte, author of “The Little Book of Believe.” We are excited to share this insightful interview with our readers today.

When did you first discover that you enjoy writing and wanted to become a published author?

I have loved expressing myself through writing since I was in high school although I don’t think I considered becoming an author until several years ago. When I wrote my first book, “Be…. A Collection of Love with Friends to Inspire a Kindness Evolution,” I wrote it for my daughters because I wanted to share some things that I thought were really important that they understood about life. Because I believed these life lessons were important for my daughters to know, I thought I should publish this so that others could hopefully benefit from some of the insights I have learned throughout my life’s journey.

What is your favorite and the most challenging aspect of writing?

I love being able to share some of the lessons I have learned with others. We all have stories of triumphs and tragedies that have happened to us throughout our lifetime and when we share the lessons we have learned from both, we can help someone else celebrate themselves or get through some of life’s greatest challenges.

I recently was asked to contribute to a book collaboration called, ” The WOMB-man The Gift Anthology,” (which will be released within the next few months) and deciding what to write about was my biggest challenge. I procrastinated until the day before the first draft was due, but once I decided on my topic, the writing flowed easily and effortlessly. Procrastination is probably my biggest challenge but once the ideas come to me, the actual writing is easy.

Tell us about your latest release.

I recently released “Believe…A Collection of Faith, Hope, and Love,” in November and then I followed it up with a children’s book called “The Little Book of Believe,” in February. Both titles were written to share faith, hope and love. “Believe…” is a collaboration of 18 authors from 8 different countries, of all different ages who share their own personal stories of overcoming adversity and how their faith helped see them through. I wrote my children’s book to share the same messages of faith, hope, and love with children. I want to plant seeds of greatness within children’s hearts so that when they face the challenging times that life will surely bring, they will have an internal armor and fortitude that will help get them through with peace and grace.

How did you come up with the title of your book? I would have to say that these titles were Divinely inspired. Before I published my first book in 2017, I had the idea to write three books. The first was “Be…,” the second was going to be “Two Be…” (which I have not written yet), and the third was going to be “Believe…” I have written nine books to date and this is one of my reminders that sometimes we have dreams but the Universe may have even bigger plans for us.

What do you hope readers are able to get from reading your story?

My greatest hope with my writing and all of my efforts is to uplift and inspire. One of my favorite quotes is by Ralph Waldo Emerson and he wrote, “To laugh often and much; to win the respect of the intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; to know that one life has breathed easier because you have lived; This is to have succeeded.” This quote is so beautiful to me because this is my definition of success. I want to BE the change I wish to see in the world in everything I do.
