Reading and Writing Addiction was able to catch up with A.J. King, Author of “The Power Vested in Me Book 2 Part 2 The Seekers.” We are excited to share this insightful interview today with our readers.
When did you first discover that you enjoy writing and wanted to become a published author?
As a child I always wanted to be a writer, but when you ‘grow up’ and have to do adult things like raise a family and do a regular job then time becomes a factor, but the desire to write never fades. And the good thing about growing up is it gives you more life experience and the more people you meet and the more things you do the better your writing is.
What is your favorite and the most challenging aspect of writing?
There are lots of satisfying moments, coming up with a new twist, getting a satisfactory conclusion to a difficult storyline, everything coming together, the moment when you finally finish the book. Although getting good feedback is always going to be my favourite thing. The most challenging things I find are meeting deadlines and not letting my mind wander, you’d be amazed how my mind can wander.
Tell us about your latest release.
This is the second part of book two and sees the Stardust continue and indeed complete their journey around the Land of Nod. Whilst in the first part of book two each zodiac house they encountered was almost a story in itself, in the second part the stories are interlinked and the characters are intertwined. In the end the Stardust have to get just one single item. I am interested to see if the readers will guess what the item is. This book throws it all open and answers all or definitely most of the questions that have been asked in the last two books. Although the question ‘who is Starkey?’ doesn’t get answered until book 3.
How did you come up with the title of your book?
The title for the book series is ‘The Power Vested in Me’ and the reason for this is the entire story rests upon the powers that Starkey has given to the 5 Stardust.
What do you hope readers are able to get from reading your story?
There is a fair bit of research that has gone into the series so hopefully a little bit of knowledge but more importantly as its all about the Stardust becoming better people if it makes readers reflect in some way on the actions of themselves and others, I think that would be great.
Who are some of your favorite authors?
As a child I loved Enid Blyton, I mean what an amazing imagination, what a vast wealth of stories she told. Also Charles Dickens- such a great creator of colourful, lovable and detestable characters. As an adult I love reading stories by Stephen King and James Herbert. Also David Baldacci- who I came by after a couple of male colleagues informed me ‘he writes man’s books’ unsure of exactly what that meant I read one of his books and loved them, so I think its more accurate to say ‘he writes books all people love.’
Do you have any advice for writers looking to get published?
It’s a big world – just keep plugging away until people notice your work.
