A young brother and sister are extracted from their everyday lives and thrust into the year 1845. There, Trevor and Holly meet a family of runaway slaves trying to get to Canada. They won’t make it without help. Using their vast knowledge of history and science, the siblings guide Jesse and his family to participants in the Underground Railroad for assistance. During their flight toward freedom, the two young guides do their best to keep the family out of the reach of bounty hunters hot on their trail. As the family runs and hides across Tennessee, Kentucky and Indiana the reader learns about famous individuals involved with the Underground.
