Book Review: Carrying Water and Carrying Loss: Tony Stevens’ The Water Girls

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐(5 Stars)Venice has been written about endlessly, but The Water Girls finds something rare in its canals. Instead of gondoliers and nobles, Tony Stevens turns his attention to the women who carried the city’s water, and in doing so, he gives voice to a world on the edge of disappearance. The story follows Lina, a…

Book Review: Brendon James Delivers Heart, Conflict, and High Stakes in Foes of Hope

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐(5 Stars)From the first chapter, Brendon James pulls readers into a world filled with magic, danger, and deep personal struggle. Foes of Hope, the opening novel in the Adamas Chronicles, wastes no time setting emotional stakes that hit hard. The story begins with Pistis Arete wrestling with the pain of killing her closest friend, a…

What would happen if some modern kids were forced to live without their modern devices? This is the question P.D. Quavers’ novel poses as the author takes you on an adventure to find the answer.

The teens enrolled in ‘The Natural Path’–a school for device-addicted kids run by the smooth but vaguely sinister Dr. Zarkov–quickly find out when the school turns out to be nothing but a front for an elaborate kidnapping plot. Trapped on a remote tropical island and facing what looks like certain death, they will have to band together if they hope to defeat their ruthless captors. But it will still take all their ingenuity just to survive…   A realistically detailed and thrilling story by novelist P.D. Quaver which will appeal to young adults (13 and over).

This is surely one of my favorite teen books of the year so far, it’s perfectly written, P.D. Quaver has certainly put everything into this magnificent story. I don’t want to seem overly excited, because it is a teen book and all but, the way the author flawlessly blended the environment and the characters in the story, makes this a read not only for teens in my opinion. An easy to read and captivating piece, well done.
